In Gästrikland where the Great lake runs into the Gavle river, which is 20 km west of Gävle and 10 km east of Sandviken, an iron industry was built in 1651. It was the beginning of what would become the industrial community called Forsbacka. Queen Kristina issued a license to run a harden and a hammar in Forsbacka. It is of course quite impossible to tell the whole history of Forsbacka on a few pages on the Internet, but I have given it a good try. If there is anything you believe should be on these page, send an e-mail and I will see what I can do about that.
Midsummer celebration at Trekanten Trekanten is a name of the place in Forsbacka. The day before Midsummer the people living in Forsbacka have a large celebration according to the old traditions. It begins with the picking of seven different flowers at a place called Skottvallen in Swedish. When the clock strikes six in the evening, it is time to raise the midsummer pole ( which may remind one of the Totempole ) along with the different dances that belong with the traditions. Many thanks to the volunteers of Forsbacka, we could re-open the outdoor dance hall at the three Corners this year, and keep even that tradition going. The only missing tradition was the villages orchester that started the evenig dance once upon a time.
