A
brief history
From the 1770s, the Nordin family owned the
industrial estate until Forsbacka Industry AB was
estabished 1870. The industrial establishment of
Forsbacka Industry turned the old estate into a
modern industry. In 1901 the martin-mill was
built along with another rolling mill. The whole
foundation was modernized and in 1915 there was
four masfurnaces, four rostfurnaces along with
two Bessemerconverters running. The summit for
the estate came during the 1940s when Forsbacka
had close to 1000 employees. In 1929 the
Forsbacka estate incorporated in Fagerstaconcern
and after 1945 the beginning of the end for the
industry. The activity that goes on today inside
the gates continues running Fundia Steelsevice
and employs approximately 50 workers. The picture to the right:

The Annealyng building
The village people called it "the
Burning", which is one of the oldest
buildings in Forsbacka. The upper section of the
building originally came from the upper Hammar
which was founded in the 1600s. |
The Laboratory
The Lab is located on a pretty little half island
out in the Upper Sälget built 1919. Today the
house is being used by different Forsbacka
societies. Forsbacka´s Teater association has
had sveral own sets here.Open May-September, mon-fri 10-16

Manufacturebuildings
The oldest sections of the works consists today
of two clinkstone ruins from 1806.

The railroad bridge
The railroad connected the works on both sides of
Gefle river falls. |
